Telemedicine in the Affordable Health Care Act Explained

Telemedicine is an important component of the robust and technology driven Affordable Care Act system (Obama care) and provides avenues for reducing costs in the new healthcare structure, because it offers options in how to access healthcare services. and Ways to Build and Keep Healthy Habit

The Affordable Care Act is the most comprehensive overhaul of the nation’s health care system in decades and it’s implementation and sign-ups will all be processed through marketplace exchanges.

What is the Meaning of Telemedicine?

Telemedicine is the use of telecommunication and information technology to provide clinical health care without a traditional face-to face consultation. It helps eliminate distance barriers and can improve access to supplementary medical services for people with:

  • Basic or No Insurance
  • High Deductible (HDHP) Insurance
  • Traditional Insurance

Tele-health Vs Telemedicine

‘Tele-health’ is an older, broader term for services such as health education and is not limited to clinical services, while ‘Telemedicine’ narrowly focuses on the actual curative aspect between the patient and healthcare professional. Examples of Tele-health are health professionals discussing a case over the telephone or conducting robotic surgery between facilities at different ends of the world.

Tele-Health has a broader scope than telemedicine and is sometimes called e-health, e-medicine, or telemedicine. Health care professional use tools like e-mails, e-visits, e-prescribing, after-hours care, e-reminders, health assessments, self-management tools, health coaching etc.

The State of the Market

The Affordable Care Act (Obama Care) Health Insurance Exchange (HIX) opens on Oct 1st, 2013. and goes into operation on Jan 1st, 2014. The Obama Care exchanges, are State, Federal or joint-run online marketplaces for health insurance. Americans can use their State’s “Affordable” Insurance Exchange marketplace to get coverage from competing private health care providers.

Steps to Sign up for Health Care Plans

  • Participants enter personal information into a web portal
  • Learn their eligibility for subsidies based on income, state-determined criteria or employer-based options.
  • Use a price calculator to shop, compare and choose a best benefit health plan.

Several major health companies have programs like TelaDoc in Aetna, KP-OnCall in Kaiser etc, trying to set up footholds in a market that is widely expected to grow rapidly. All participants have to do is research for telemedicine benefits through their health insurance plans or sign up for independent programs.

How Health Care Professionals Administer Telemedicine

Doctors can treat most everyday health needs by phone or a scheduled video consultation. A study by the American Medical Association shows that 4 out of 5 visits to a primary care doctor could have been treated over the phone instead. After each consultation, patients will receive a clinical report which can be emailed to a primary care physician.

Registered Nurses manage triage calls and act as health coaches. For some specific symptoms, they give guidance for the most appropriate care, and over 32% of the time will offer self-care options so patients avoid a visit to the doctor, ER or Urgent Care facility entirely.

Common symptoms often treated through Telemedicine

Respiratory Infections, Cold/Flu Symptoms, Urinary Tract Infections, Sore Throats, Headaches/Migraines, Sinusitis, Allergies, Insect bites, Certain Rashes, Sprains/Strains, Arthritic Pain, Stomach Aches/Diarrhea, Gastroenteritis, Minor Burns and many non-emergency medical conditions

By 2014, the law mandates that all non-exempt Americans have health insurance or face a tax penalty. The Affordable Care Act has far-reaching advantages such as prohibiting insurance companies from dropping a clients’ coverage if they get sick or discrimination against anyone with a pre-existing condition and extending children’s eligibility on parent’s plans.

How to Win at Positioning Your Travel and Tourism Destination

The process of creating an image or identity in the minds of consumers is called positioning. It’s very important to travel and tourism destinations because it helps make your destination more attractive to consumers than other similar destinations.

The process of positioning involves market positioning, psychological positioning, and positioning approaches.

Step 1: Market Positioning

In this step, you select a target market segment (market segmentation), which is probably the group of people that you already are seeing at your destination. But if you need and The best time to go to Seattle new customers, you may want to look at other possible segments, and target them. For example, if you normally have families at your destination, you could target wealthy retirees as a new source of business.

Now that you’ve selected a target market, you need to learn all about them. What do they like to do while on vacation? What do they want from a destination? Utilize surveys and focus groups to answer these questions and learn more about your target market. Money spent on that now will be well spent. You certainly don’t want to waste marketing dollars later on advertising the wrong message to your target audience. Make sure you find out what the right message will be, and don’t guess.

The other thing you need to learn from your target market is how they already perceive your destination. What benefits do they think your destination provides? What beliefs do they already have about your destination? Are any of them negative? If so, what are they? You will need to counter those beliefs in your new position.

Step: 2 Psychological Positioning

Now that you understand your target audience, you can put that information together with your business goals and figure out what you will communicate to the market segment that will plant the right image in their minds about your destination.

You can use physical attributes if they are unique. For example, Westin Hotels positioned itself with their industry-changing “Heavenly Bed” slogan. As the first hotel to offer premium mattresses and bedding, they had a unique physical attribute.

Step 3: Positioning Approaches

1) Head to Head Approach: Not recommended for most travel and tourism organizations, but it can be done. It’s more likely that you will:

2) Relate Yourself to Market Leader: If you can’t lick ’em, join ’em! Avis Car Rentals did this with their slogan “We try harder.” Marriott, Hilton and Radisson have all employed this technique too, adding premium beds to their offerings, thereby hitching a ride on Westin’s gravy train.

3) Price Value: Not to be mistaken for lowest price, which is usually avoided because consumers relate low price to low quality. Position for best value instead, using this approach.

4) Users and Attributes: Associate your travel destination with a group of people, or with the reasons they might come to your destination.

5) Destination Class: Can you associate yourself with a unique experience? Perhaps you are a tour operator that offers tours to the lost city of Atlantis. (If so, please contact me, I want to come…but you get the idea.)

Conclusion

You are now well set up to position yourself for maximum competitive edge. Do bear in mind other factors that might influence your position, such as location, economics, politics, and lifestyle changes. Go for the gold and enjoy a position as market leader for your target market segment.

How To Successfully Drive Business Change

As an owner looking for ways to improve your business processes and your business performance, you are no doubt on the look out for new ideas and strategies to implement.

How lucky you are that in this modern world there are so many ideas and strategies to choose from!

Of course as you mature as a business owner you come to understand that it is not access to new ideas that will make a difference in your business, it is your ability to implement those ideas and drive change that will determine how successful you will be.

In my professional experience as a business coach I have observed time and again that the most successful business owners are those that can embrace the need for change and find a way to motivate and empower their staff to drive the business improvement process.

But change does not come easy to any human– we all seem to have a fear of moving away from what we know, even if we understand that we could always be doing better!

One of the business coaching ideas I use with my clients is that your ability to make changes in your business life (and indeed your personal life) depends on the strength of your personal DVP formula.

What is the DVP formula?

It is a concept that says that successful change requires a high level of

1. Dissatisfaction;

2. Vision; and,

3. Planning.

What does that mean?

If you and your team are not really dissatisfied with your current position, why would you commit to a change strategy? Why change something if it isn’t broken? If you can live with the current position, or have lived with it for a number of years and the sky has not yet fallen in, there is no perceived need to adopt a different way of doing things– even if you understand that a change may lead to better results.

The trick then is to understand just how dissatisfied you and your team are in relation to a specific business process or financial outcome. If the drive to get to a better place is not strong enough, you either need to find a way to increase the level of dissatisfaction or accept that change will not occur and move on to another business issue.

The second element of your DVP formula is to make sure you have a very clear vision of what you want to achieve. Any change process you start without having a strong vision of where you want to get to is destined to fail.

Finally, once you have a strong desire to make changes to your current position, and you have a strong vision of where you would like to get to, the success or otherwise of your change strategy will depend on the strength of your plan to achieve the change.

So the DVP formula says that changing a business process is more likely to be successful if you and your team can develop a high level of dissatisfaction with what you are currently doing and currently achieving, and then develop a strong desire to get to a better place, and then develop an effective planning strategy to move you and your business to the desired result.

If any of these three elements are not strong enough, you are not likely to achieve the results you want.

How To Apply DVP In Your Business.

Experience has shown me that the best approach to driving change in a business is to engage the team early in the process.

Within a workshop environment, get your team to focus on the business process you want to change and fully discuss the negative impact it is having on the business as a whole and most importantly, on the individual team members themselves. List down everything that the group discusses– the more negatives they find the better!

From there your team should talk about the types of improvements they would like to see in the business and in the lives of the individuals and what the business would look like if these improvements could be made. The more you focus on the improved business results and the improved work life opportunities, the more you and your team will become dissatisfied with the current position, and the more likely you are to commit to a change strategy.

Again, use a whiteboard to list the benefits that can be achieved by making the changes. That list of benefits will ultimately define the vision of what you want to achieve. Using an open forum discussion process you should be able to develop a very clear understanding of what vision you and your team are willing to commit to.

Having developed a full understanding of your current position and a strong vision of where you would like to get to, it is then time to discuss ways that you can move your business towards the agreed goals. Brainstorming ideas will ensure everything is considered and ultimately this list of ideas can be distilled down to what is the most appropriate strategy for your business and your team at this time.

Follow this process and your ability to drive a successful change strategy in your business will be greatly improved.

Applying DVP To Your Personal Life.

Interestingly, this DVP formula is also amazingly effective in making changes to your personal life. Do you want to stop smoking, lose weight, or make a career change?

None of these things are easy to achieve, but how much easier is it when you become so dissatisfied with your life that you are desperate to make a change, when you have a strong vision of yourself as a non-smoker, a fitter person or working in a job you love, and with the assistance of a friend, mentor or professional you are able to develop and commit to a step by step plan to achieve success?

DVP Will Work In Your Business.

When I first discovered this DVP formula I thought it was theoretical rubbish!

Deciding the Perfect Time to Sell a Business

As a business owner, your business is your baby. It might not only be your source of income, but also your identity and your life. The thought of selling your baby is hard to consider especially now and so you wait.

Many business owners will delay the thought of when to sell until it is far too late; leaving them frustrated and felling regret that they didn’t sell when they could have.

Often business owners think that a family member or key employee will take over the business. Sadly we are seeing that many family members do not want the business and the business owners is left considering a plan b.

So, even if you have a family member or key employee that will be buying the business, you still have to decide when you will make the transfer. Often since no formal planning or decision has been made, the decision defaults to when the business owner just does not want to work the business any more. And although this might seem like a logical time, it does guarantee greatest value for the business.

Sadly, waiting until you just can’t do it any more, might actually be at the lowest value of the business. Here’s why. As you start to fall out of love with the business, you are no longer putting everything into the business and the business is no longer operating a peak, the owner is relaxing and the business is as well.

Often sales drop, marketing slows down and the business drops in profit and revenues, hence dropping in value.

So instead of waiting until you can’t do it anymore, plan to exit when the business is at its peak.

For business owners this is a VERY hard time to sell. Image as a business owner you have built your business to almost run itself and the economy takes off and suddenly you are making more money than you have ever made and your business is running at its best.

It is easy to think the curve will continue to go up, but this never happens. As the saying goes, what goes up, must come down. Eventually the business will decline.

Because the value of the business is highly weighed on its revenues and profit, now is the ideal time to sell, but emotionally the hardest time to sell.

When talking to friends and family about selling, they will think you are crazy. Your spouse might question your sanity and you probably still love your business.

If you understand the growth curve of a business you know that after ever good period is a down period and either you can be the one working through the down period or the new owner can.

Sadly many business owners get comfortable and when a growth spurt like this occurs, they hold on and think it will last forever. Then they kick themselves years later when they had an offer to sell (near the peak) and they turned it down.

When you get an offer and the business is growing, now is the time to consult with a business broker or business intermediary. Get the business valued and ask for the market trends to see if there are indications of being towards the top of the peak.

Taking some time prepare yourself now, could save your thousands and maybe even millions in the future.

How News Articles Have Changed

Accept it – in an age where news spreads through social media like twitter, Facebook or other channels as fast as fingers can type, news articles are no more the primary source of learning breaking news, even though some articles may be classified in that category. and dispatcher

Today’s news articles are more opinionated than journalistic, because the journalism gets published in real time through rss feeds and social media.

What is left for traditional publications, even traditional publications on the Internet, is to create news digests with generous doses of opinion and views to turn out news features that provoke readers into making comments for or against the writer.

That’s what news articles are all about today. Because they take time to write and research, and much before the writing is finished, the raw information reaches those who are crazy about remaining updated.

The Internet is open and active 24 X 7 and news is received by people interested in a topic, usually within a few moments of the news reaching the news room, and much before a feature is created and published on a news outlet.

This does not of course mean that news articles have lost their value, but that they have gained more value and become immensely tougher to write. Unless, of course, you are just creating landfill content, or recycling stuff.

Today, when writing a news feature the writer usually assumes that the audience or at least a part of the audience who would be most interested in the topic is already aware of the news in its skeletal form. So, third person reiteration of information is going to receive little appreciation or reaction among readers.

Since users are now able to publish their opinion on the same page where a news feature is published, the writer runs the risks of attracting negative comments if the news feature is not fleshed out properly, and does not match the sentiments of the reader. This means more research to be done for news articles to create views articles that can engage the audience and hold their attention for more than three seconds, and then progress to a maximum of three minutes. The “three seconds” job is done by the title, and the rest has to be done by the writer working hard and demonstrating his skills.

So, there are few categories of news that do not have a direct or indirect bearing on business and thus may not be categorized as news – and its business all the way from showbiz to political biz with such news fuelling our everyday life.

Why to Watch Movies?

It’s not just that we’re going to the movies more often. We’re also just as interested in film culture as we’ve ever been. Going to the movies is not only about blowing off steam and having a laugh. It can also be a way of appreciating art and learning lessons about ourselves and the world. To know about a few reasons as to why watch movies, read on. and phim thể loại

Films help us learn

Films can shape the way we’re making sense of the world we’re living in right now – regardless of the period that they’re set in. Although that obviously depends on which movie you watch. But a good documentary or an intelligent historical drama can educate you on important issues and events in a much more interesting and enjoyable way than a dry old textbook.

Movies can make you more emotionally intelligent too. Watching movies can change our perspective on the people and issues we encounter every day, as well as increasing our understanding and sensitivity to people and issues in places we may never visit.

They help us process difficult life lessons

Stress relief is a key function of films, and it’s a major function for large audiences of blockbuster films. They can be “a safe space” where we can find alternative role models to identify with and observe those characters’ behaviors as they tackle challenges similar to our own. Some viewers also find metaphors or symbols in different titles that help them grapple with major life challenges.

They are a social experience

When we do stream movies at home, we increasingly find ways to connect with friends and communities over different platforms – including on social media, online forums, or pop culture websites. Streaming has also facilitated some films to find a more mainstream audience than they otherwise would not have.

They help us appreciate art

Simply put, watching a film can be a way of appreciating art and heightening your cultural awareness, in a format that is more accessible to many of us than a gallery. When we watch our favorite title, we’re not just being entertained: We’re also admiring something beautiful, learning about the world and ourselves, connecting with communities, and contributing to positive social change.

Escaping from Reality

No matter who you are or what you do, sometimes you just need to get away from everything for a while. And what better way to do that than to watch a romantic fiction movie with two impossibly beautiful people falling in love, or a fantasy epic with elves duking it out against orcs, or putting yourself in a scenario where your favorite superhero is fighting crimes and protecting your city.

They make us Laugh or Cry

Films have proved to be a really efficient form of entertainment to pass time. They can either be comedy genre movies that will make to laugh to point that it might start to hurt, or sad dramatic ones that will make you cry. Nevertheless, they are a great source of entertainment.

The Takeaway

Many of you might only watch movies in order to pass time, but they have a number of other benefits as well. At the end of the day, if you’re watching a film of choice or something that was already on your TV, you’ll be having a great experience.

Employee Management – Why it is Important

Employees are the heart and soul of every company. Their work ethic correlates to the performance of the entire business. They are needed every day, regardless of the size of the business. For the most part, they are fully appreciated by their employers. They should be monitored, though, to ensure the proper execution of tasks. Through this monitoring, supervisors could find more efficient ways to complete a task. A way that many businesses have been able to monitor their employees’ performances is with employee management software. It is designed to work with any company size, so it can handle many or few employees. and Hamilton Lindley

As a business owner, it is important to recognize the need for efficiency throughout the workplace. Low efficiency doesn’t necessarily mean that their employees aren’t doing their jobs, although it does in some circumstances. It simply means that the directions an employee was given for a task could be more efficient. This is one reason companies use employee management. Another is to track employee time. The software is able to track how much time an employee spends on particular projects, as well as their skills and performance. Many companies use this data to determine whether promotions are warranted.

Because employee management software tracks the amount of time employees spend on projects, it can be used to compare between several employees. If a large number of people worked on similar projects and the majority completed the projects around the same time, then the software will be able to determine how long employees should spend on projects. This will help with company time management, as well as money. Supervisors will be able to create more efficient deadlines because they have data telling them how long projects should take. This in turn will save money because they won’t be paying employees extra time to complete projects.

Proper employee management will result in an all-around better company. The employees will know what they are to do because the supervisors can give them more informed instructions. This will result in better products or services created because everyone involved knew exactly what they were to be doing. This efficiency will stem from the lowest ranking employee all the way to the top because the software is formatted to track all employee levels. It will track how well supervisors manage their employees, as well as tracking whether that top ranking official deserves to keep his position.

Employee management software has become quite extensive since it first was used years ago. Not only does it track employees’ times, it also can be used to create performance goals and plans for a business. Because clearer plans and goals can be created, supervisors will be able to give better feedback because all the work is tracked. They won’t have to rely on what they personally saw themselves anymore. The software gives them clear cut data on which to rely. If you are a business owner who thinks the business can be run more efficiently, consider using the management software.
